In Christian symbolism represents the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Bishop Theophile of Antioch, who died in 186 A.D., is thought to have been the first to use the concept of the Holy Trinity.

Any color of light can be formed from the three primary colors. The Elf Cross or Ella Cross is from Scania, Sweden. Elf crosses were carved or drawn on the walls, household objects as a protection against trolls and evil magic.
